Bolivian Recce Expedition 20 March 2020 – 4 April 2020

John has been asked to assist the village of Tres Hermanos on the Beni river. There are 17 families here with around 94 people who urgently need their primary school refurbished and a clean water supply put into operation. At the same time he plans to carry out a reconnaissance of some interesting little-known archaeological sites and study the wildlife in the region with a view to launching a larger scale expedition for the benefit of the area in the future. Of particular interest are the reports of a large, aggressive aquatic creature, possibly a type of caimen (alligator) that we shall investigate.

The expedition will start in La Paz, capital of Bolivia and continue to the world’s highest navigable lakes, the sacred Titicaca (12,675 feet) and the legendary Andean city of Tiahuanaco. Then on to the ancient trading post, Rurrenabaque, the ‘Gateway of the Amazon’ and moving by local canoes to Tres Hermanos to oversee the completion of the work there, examine archaeological sites and use camera traps to study the wildlife.

The Mongolian Khan Khentii Expedition June/July 2020

The expedition will be carrying out community aid projects, giving dental and medical help to the local people and performing archaeological, biological and zoological tasks with Mongolian scientists. The scientific studies are organised with the support of the National University by Professor Terbish, who has accompanied our expeditions since 1992.

Travel will be by horse and four wheel drive vehicles. Accommodation will be in tents provided by our agents. At the end of the expedition there will be 2 days in the Khustain Nuruu National Park (West of Ulaanbaatar) studying the Przewalski horses and carrying out zoological research.

The provisional dates are 28 June (arrival in Ulaanbaatar) to 17 July (depart from Ulaanbaatar).

Stephen continues to entertain audiences with his highly successful talks which include ‘In the Steps of Eric Shipton’, ‘Ernest Shackleton’ and ‘Everest and Beyond’. 2018 marked Stephen’s 30th Anniversary accent of Everest.

Antartic Expedition - February 2020

Led by Stephen to climb, ski, sea kayak and watch wildlife, the Antarctic Expedition on Pelagic Australis.

If you are interested in taking part in the 2021 expedition, please contact Stephen as soon as possible to reserve a place on the next trip.

South Georgia Mountaineering Winter Expedition

Stephen has completed his seventh expedition to South Georgia.  In fact he completed two expeditions, back to back.  The first trip, aboard Pelagic Australis, was to the southern Salvesen Range, where he and Skip Novak led a team to make first ascents of peaks which Stephen first admired 26 years ago when he made the first ascent of Mt Carse. Then, Stephen and Caradoc Jones joined a grand-daughter and great-grandsons of Tom Crean, to follow in their ancestor’s footprints, 100 years after he made his legendary crossing of the Island with Frank Worsley and Ernest Shackleton.

Home Fires - Jambusters

The series has been sold to numerous territories around the world including PBS Masterpiece channel in the USA. Both series are now available on Netflix and BritBox.

Acclaimed British actresses Francesca Annis and Samantha Bond led an impressive ensemble cast for two highly successful series of this six-part drama  on ITV. Both series averaged consolidated viewing figures of over 6 million. Inspired by Julie Summer’s non-fiction book, ‘Jambusters’- the story of the Women's Institute in the Second World War, the drama followed a group of inspirational women in a rural Cheshire community with the shadow of war casting a dark cloud over their lives. The adaptation of ‘Jambusters’ into a period drama was created and written by 'Lewis' writer Simon Block.
