Rob Curling is a broadcaster, speaker, events and awards host, conference facilitator, voice-over artist, media consultant and trainer.

He has been a constant presence on our television screens for more than 3 decades, working across almost every genre, but predominantly in sport and news & current affairs.

Rob has covered nearly every type of major sporting event, initially for BBC Sport, and subsequently for Discovery/Eurosport, including the Summer and Winter Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games, Wimbledon, Open Golf Championships, 6Nations Rugby, and has been a commentator at the London International Horse Show, the Royal Windsor Horse Show and various international rowing regattas. Rob regularly anchors Eurosport’s tennis coverage and hosted the French Open in Paris and Queens tournament in London in 2021. In between these engagements he presented the sport on Sky News.

He hosted the popular BBC1 quiz show ‘Turnabout’ in the 1990s, and was a regular on BBC Events Outside Broadcasts, including Royal and State Events, Railwatch, The Opening of the Channel Tunnel, and the award-winning series marking the 50th anniversary of the end of WWII: D Day Remembered, VE50 and VJ50. He also presented The Boat Show, and was a reporter on the BBC’s airshow covering Farnborough, the Royal International Air Tattoo, and Biggin Hill. Later he became the main airshow presenter for ITV and presented the documentary Spitfire 60. 

He has appeared in numerous TV dramas, often as a TV newsreader or reporter, e.g.: EastEnders on BBC1, and in feature films, such as Universal Pictures’ Academy Awards-nominated Children of Men, and was show jumping commentator in season 4 of The Crown on Netflix.

Rob appeared in an entire series of LWT’s Beadle’s About, including the acclaimed ‘Alien’ stunt, voted as the best ever hidden camera prank. As the ‘victim’ of a televised stunt himself, Rob was awarded a Gotcha Oscar from Noel Edmonds on BBC1’s Saturday evening light entertainment show Noel’s House Party. 

More recently, Rob hosted the spectacular Royal Opening of Battersea Power Station in October 2022, and is regularly called upon to facilitate awards ceremonies and conferences. He compered and commentated on the renowned House of Lords v House of Commons Tug Of War event in aid of the Macmillan Cancer charity at Westminster – and has been invited back!  

He currently hosts the UK’s No1 aviation podcast Top Landing Gear, a light-hearted look at the world of aviation with great guests and stories.

Rob speeches generally cover his life and work as a broadcaster, his numerous scrapes and moments he’d rather forget, and his encounters with the rich and famous. These can be tailored to be more sports oriented if required. As someone who has always been fascinated by what goes on behind-the-scenes, Rob ‘peels back the underlay from the magic carpet of television’ to reveal some of its best kept secrets.

In May 2023 Rob will be performing his one-man show ‘Confessions of a Studio Anchor’ at the Brighton Fringe.
