Dr Simon Poole is an award-winning Cambridge based medical doctor, author, broadcaster and commentator as well as an internationally renowned authority on the science and application of the Mediterranean diet and lifestyle.


Simon is an expert scientific consultant on extra virgin olive oil and is a member of the Advisory Board at the Olive Wellness Institute in Australia, a member of council of the True Health Initiative, a Fellow of the British Medical Association, and has previously been involved in teaching at Cambridge University.


As an authority on the subject of nutrition, lifestyle and public health, Simon has written articles in scientific journals such as Nutrition and Food Science, the international Journal of Clinical Practice and has also been published in the Guardian and magazines such as Cook Vegetarian.


Simon has also been an expert on both national and international radio and television shows, including the BBC programme “Nadiya’s Family Favourites”.


He was co-author with Judy Ridgway on the award-winning book, The Olive Oil Diet, which takes a fresh and exciting look at the Mediterranean Diet with olive oil at its heart. Simon is working on another book project with Norwegian author and health expert Carina Hultin Dahlmann.


More recently, his latest publication “The Real Mediterranean Diet, a guide to achieving the healthiest diet in the world” was published by Cambridge Academic Press in 2021 and has received excellent reviews.
