Anna has lived with her family in Mallorca for nearly 20 years. She is of Celtic origin (Irish and Scottish mother, Welsh father) and is an author and journalist with a BA Hons in Ancient Greek and English Literature from Leeds University.

A Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society (RGS) she has participated in many tough global humanitarian aid expeditions in South America and Asia with her chum British explorer Colonel John Blashford-Snell, CBE. Together they organized an expedition to gift a grand piano to the remote Amerindian Wai Wai tribe in Guyana, ferrying it up the Amazon on canoes and carrying it through deep savannah and jungle terrain.  It was the subject of A Grand Adventure, a BBC2 TV documentary.

Anna was a graduate trainee with national charity Help the Aged and when promoted to senior press officer, handled many prestigious events involving Princess Diana, the charity’s patron.

Headhunted by Guinness, she launched a new PR department for the Guinness Book Of Records before being trained by Norris McWhirter, CBE, the book’s founder, to become a world invigilator with him. They had many hilarious global and British adventures on the road, recorded in Anna’s memoir Strictly Off the Record.

Post Guinness, Anna became PR director of Czech & Speake of Jermyn Street before setting up her own successful niche luxury lifestyle PR agency in Mayfair. A freelance journalist while running her agency, Anna decided to write her first book when she and her family relocated to rural Mallorca.

She is the first Briton to have received the annual prestigious Siurell de Plata award from the Balearic regional government for positive promotion of Balearic culture and values.

Anna is now the most prolific British author writing about Mallorca today having penned seven semi-autobiographical travel titles: A Lizard in my Luggage, Cat on a Hot TiledRoof, Goats from a Small Island, Donkeys on my Doorstep, A Bull on the Beach, A Chorus of Cockerels and her most recent Peacocks in Paradise was published in 2021.

Her first Mallorca based gentle crime novel, The Devil’s Horn, was published in October 2019.  It is the first of a series featuring Isabel Flores Montserrat and her pet ferret Furo. The second in the series, Haunted Magpie, was published in Autumn 2020. She has recently published ‘Fallen Butterfly’ the third novel in the series.

A member of the Telegraph travel team, and its Mallorca Destination Expert, Anna reviews hotels in Mallorca, and writes a weekly column for expat newspaper, Majorca Daily Bulletin. She also contributes travel features to FT How to Spend it and writes occasional pieces for publications such as Conde Nast Traveller, Telegraph Ultra Travel and The Times. This year, Anna has launched Burro Books Ltd, her own publishing company.
