Chris has been associated with numerous productions across the UK and USA, West End and Broadway, as a Musical Director, Orchestrator and Dance Arranger. Shows include: Godspell, Oliver!, Side by Side by Sondheim, My Fair Lady, Tomfoolery, Me and My Girl, Cabaret, Follies, Hot Shoe Shuffle and The Secret Garden. Chris has also worked extensively for TV and film providing orchestrations for the movies Shirley Valentine and Impromptu. He is also a prolific composer and has produced numerous cast recordings.

His credits include writing the orchestrations and dance arrangements for the West End Production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang which ran for over three and a half years at The London Palladium. The show also transferred to Broadway and continued with three highly successful National Tours of the UK. Chris was also the Musical Director for the London production of Ragtime and has worked with its Olivier Award-winning star, Maria Friedman on her one-woman show at festivals throughout Europe and at The Carlyle Café in New York. More recently they worked together again on her show Maria Friedman-Re-Arranged at The Menier Chocolate Factory in London.

Chris’s most recent orchestrations were for The Producers at The Royal Exchange Theatre, Manchester in 2018 / 2019 and Sweet Charity for The Royal Exchange in 2017 which also ran at the Nottingham Playhouse in 2018 as well as orchestrating the Menier Chocolate Factory’s production of Cy Coleman’s Barnum in 2017. He also orchestrated the highly acclaimed production of Funny Girl starring Sheridan Smith which premiered at The Menier Chocolate Factory before transferring to The Savoy Theatre in the West End in April 2016 followed by the UK tour in 2017. He also created the orchestrations for Stepping Out at The Vaudeville Theatre directed by Maria Friedman.

Chris wrote the orchestrations and dance arrangements for a revised production of Me and My Girl at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield. In addition, Chris also orchestrated a new version of The Secret Garden for the Festival Theatre in Edinburgh and its transfer to Toronto. In addition, he provided the orchestrations and dance arrangements of the first ever stage adaptation of Irving Berlin’s Top Hat which toured the UK before transferring to the Aldwych Theatre in London. The show also ran in Sweden and Japan in 2015 following its 2nd UK National tour.

He was responsible for orchestrating the arrangements for Ragtime and The Sound of Music which received glowing reviews during its run at the Regents’ Park Open Air Theatre, London.

Chris also provided the orchestrations for the musical That Day We Sang (written by Victoria Wood), for The Royal Exchange Theatre, Manchester. He then re-orchestrated the score for the BBC2 Christmas drama adaptation in 2014 produced by Hilary Bevan-Jones.

In 2015, he re-orchestrated the Cole Porter score for The Crucible Theatre’s production of Anything Goes and the subsequent UK tour for Stage Entertainment. In addition to this he re-orchestrated the score for Adam Spiegel’s UK production of The Producers - based on Mel Brooks’ much loved Academy Award winning movie.

Other productions include working with Maria Friedman on a new production of High Society at The Old Vic and re-orchestrating ‘The Gumbie Cat’ for CATS at the London Palladium and worldwie tour.

Further productions include his orchestrations for Aladdin at The Old Vic which played for two Christmas seasons and his dance arrangements for the National Theatre and Cameron Mackintosh’s West End production of My Fair Lady and its highly successful UK and USA National Tour.

The West End run at The Theatre Royal, Haymarket and the UK Tour of Acorn Antiques and a recording of The Likes of Us, the first show ever composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, also contained Chris’s orchestrations as did Imagine This produced by ICW Productions which had its world premiere at the Theatre Royal in Plymouth before transferring to The New London Theatre.

Chris has directed New York and London workshops of Denis King and Mary Stewart David’s musical play Afterwards. In addition, he wrote the compositions for Ray Cooney’s musical Twice Upon A Time which was first performed at the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre, Guildford before transferring to Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center, Los Angeles.

He was also the Musical Supervisor of Stage Entertainment’s production Der Schuh Des Manitu which ran for  two years at the Theater des Westens in Berlin. Chris was also responsible for the Orchestrations for the Menier Chocolate Factory’s production of Cy Coleman’s Sweet Charity starring Tamsin Outhwaite and its subsequent transfer to The Theatre Royal in the Haymarket.

In the summer of 2010, he orchestrated Stephen Sondheim’s Into the Woods at Regent’s Park, Open Air Theatre as well as orchestrating a new musical Lend Me A Tenor which opened at The Theatre Royal, Plymouth in the autumn of that year before transferring to the Gielgud Theatre, London.
